Notes from Karst: We came up from the Fairplay side and it was a chore and half getting up there. Very rocky and narrow. We started to
go down on the other side, but we ran into some very steep sections. We did not know how much better or worse it was going to get so
we turned around and came back the same way we came up. It was as much I what would want to volunteer to go up on. I could not have done
it on my R1150GS, but the BMW Challenge and the Suzuki DR650 did OK.
Notes from Randy: Lots of softball-sized rocks on the way up the east side. Really couldn't weave and pick good lines. Downhill on west side
was decomposed granite with two eroded wheel tracks. Kept sliding into the wheel tracks making it difficult to stay upright. Removed luggage.
Put bike in first with engine off. Feet on ground. Slowly pulled in clutch to move ahead. Let out clutch to brake. Finally made it down ok.
Fortunately it was very hot and there were lots of mosquitos as I went back up and down the hill to retrieve my luggage. Then headed south to
cross Breakneck Pass. That's why they call this Adventure Riding.
