Tour of Honor - Benefiting Veterans Charities - A Ride to Remember
Tour of Honor is a great reason to hit the open road, honor our nation's heroes, and contribute to a few good
charities. The event is a season-long, self-directed ride to memorials and monuments around the continental U.S.,
Alaska and Hawaii. Beginning April 1, and ending October 31.
NEW IN 2023: Working with the DOD, a special tribute will be made to honor all
Vietnam War and Vietnam-era veterans and their families. See Vietnam 50th.

Sea-to-Shining Sea Tour - Madonna of the Trail
A story of courage, camaraderie and flying skill.

The note on the print, which was signed by the four airmen: Pardo's Push. On 10 March 1967, as the last element of the 8th TFW, 433rd TFS,
was bombing the Thai Nguygen steel mills near Hanoi, North Viet Nam, Captain Earl Aman's F-4 was severely damaged by anti-aircraft fire.
It was certain the aircraft would run out of fuel and Aman and his backseater would eject over North Viet Nam. Squadron buddy, Captain
Bob Pardo did not accept that fate, and after critically analyzing their options, he gambled: He would push Aman's damaged Phantom by its
tailhook into Laos. Pardo's F-4 had also been hit, and it too ran out of fuel, two minutes after watching Aman and his backseater eject.
All four airmen parachuted into the jungle and were later rescued.
The note with the models: Pardo's Push. Capt Bob Pardo, 1Lt Steve Wayne, Capt Earl Aman and 1Lt Robert Houghton were assigned to the 8th
Tactical Fighter Wing, 433rd Tactical Fighter Squadron. On March 10, 1967 the sky was clear for a bombing run on a steel mill north of Hanoi
but both Phantoms were hit. Aman's aircraft lost most of its fuel. To avoid having Aman and Houghton bail out over hostile territory, Pardo
pushed the aircraft using its tailhook against his windscreen while struggling with a fire in one of his engines. The planes were able to reach
Laotian airspace, all four men ejected and were rescued. Pardo was initially reprimanded for not saving his own aircraft. However, in 1989 the
military reexamined the case and awarded both Pardo and Wayne the Silver Star. (Our models were made by Beau Crosby and the nickels on each
stand signify he was in boot camp with them.)
